Text Case Converter
Convert any text to sentence case, lower case, UPPER CASE, Start Case, camelCase, kebab-case and more. Choose a case, copy the result, done.
Convert your text
One box, one dropdown, one result
A case converter should take about four seconds to use. Paste your text, choose what you want it to become, copy the result. This one does that and deliberately nothing else, because the moment a converter starts showing you eleven results at once you have to hunt for the one you asked for.
The result updates as you type and as you change the dropdown, and there is a copy button sitting on the output box. Your original stays where it is, so you can compare the two rather than losing what you started with.
The cases, and what each is for
For writing. Sentence case capitalises the first word of each sentence and the word “I”, exactly as you would write prose. Lower case and UPPER CASE do what they say. Start Case capitalises every word with no exceptions, which is occasionally wanted for labels and menu items but is not what an editor means by title case.
For code and slugs. camelCase for variables in JavaScript, Java and Swift. PascalCase for classes, components and types. snake_case for Python, Ruby and database columns. kebab-case for URL slugs, CSS classes and file names. CONSTANT_CASE for constants and environment variables. All five strip the spaces and punctuation and rejoin the words the way the convention expects.
For everything else. Alternating case and inverse case, for the rare occasions they are called for.
Chaining one into the next
There is a button that moves the result back into the input. It sounds trivial and it is the thing most converters make you do by hand: lower case a shouting headline, then turn the result into a slug, without retyping anything or copying between fields. Two clicks instead of a round trip through a text editor.
Which case for a URL slug?
kebab-case, in lower case. Google has said for years that hyphens are read as word separators and underscores are not, so running-shoe-guide reads as three words while running_shoe_guide risks being read as one. Keep the whole thing lower case as well, because some servers treat upper and lower case addresses as different pages, which creates duplicate content you never needed to have.
What this one does not do
Proper title case is not a single transformation. It depends on a named style guide, it has rules about which prepositions stay down and at what length, and it has to leave acronyms and brand spellings alone. Putting all of that behind a twelfth dropdown option would make this page worse at the simple job it does well, so it has its own tool: the Title Capitalization Tool.
For the same reason, if you want case conversion on a whole draft while you are writing it, the Word Counter does that in place alongside its live counts. And the Heading Structure Checker is the one to reach for when the question is about the headings themselves rather than their capitalisation.
Is anything stored?
No. Every conversion happens in your browser as you type, which is why there is no button to press and no waiting. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is logged, and nothing is kept on your device either.
Eleven cases, one box
Type, choose from the dropdown, copy the result. No panels to scroll past and nothing to read before you get your text back.
For writing
Sentence case, which capitalises only the first word of each sentence and the word "I". Plus lower case, UPPER CASE, and Start Case with every word capitalised.
For code and slugs
camelCase and PascalCase for variables and classes, snake_case for Python and database columns, kebab-case for URLs and CSS, CONSTANT_CASE for environment variables.
Chain one into the next
A button moves the result back into the input, so you can lower case a shouting headline and then turn it into a slug without retyping anything.
Headlines live next door
Real title case follows a named style guide and has rules about prepositions and acronyms, so it has a tool of its own rather than crowding this one.
Instant, with no button
The result updates as you type and as you change the dropdown. There is nothing to submit, because nothing is sent anywhere.
A word or a whole article
Line breaks and paragraphs survive the conversion, and sentence case respects them rather than running everything together.
Questions about changing case
What is the difference between sentence case and Start Case?
Sentence case capitalises only the first word of each sentence, exactly as you would write ordinary prose. Start Case capitalises every single word with no exceptions, including "and", "the" and "of". Start Case is sometimes wanted for labels and menu items, but it is not what editors mean by title case, because a real style guide leaves the small words alone. For a headline, use the Title Capitalization Tool instead.
Which case should a URL slug use?
kebab-case: lower case words joined by hyphens. Google has said for years that hyphens are read as word separators and underscores are not, so "running-shoe-guide" reads as three words while "running_shoe_guide" risks being read as one. Keep slugs lower case as well, because some servers treat upper and lower case addresses as different pages, which is a duplicate content problem you never needed to have.
Why was my acronym lowercased?
Because you asked for lower case, and this tool does what the dropdown says without second-guessing you. That is the right behaviour for a converter working on a body of text. The Title Capitalization Tool is the one that protects acronyms and brand spellings such as NASA, iPhone and eBay, because a headline is where preserving them matters.
Does changing case affect SEO?
Search engines are not case-sensitive about your keywords, so no ranking depends on it. Two practical things do. Capitals are wider, so a title in capitals fits fewer words into the space a search result gives you. And addresses genuinely can be case-sensitive depending on the server, which is why lower case slugs are the safe default.
How is this different from the Word Counter?
The Word Counter includes case conversion among a dozen live measurements, and it changes the text in place while you are drafting. This is a dedicated converter: it keeps your original and shows the result separately so you can compare the two, adds the code and slug cases the counter does not have, and lets you feed the result back in to chain conversions together.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. Every conversion happens in your browser as you type, which is why there is no button to press and no waiting. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is logged, and nothing is stored on your device either.
